Recommendation
If Tallinn is the goal: skip the Thursday Meißen excursion and book the Lufthansa/Star Alliance Dresden to Tallinn option for Sept 3. Lufthansa shows Sept 3 fares from about EUR180, and route data points to a one-stop FRA itinerary leaving Dresden in the 18:00-19:00 window and arriving Tallinn after midnight.
If Helsinki is the goal Thursday night: either book Dresden/Berlin to Helsinki directly, or, only if already in Tallinn, take the Tallink 19:30 or 22:30 ferry.
Big Constraint
The ICHQP Thursday excursion to Meißen boards at 13:30, departs 14:00, and returns around 19:00. That clashes with practical same-day Tallinn/Helsinki travel.
Translation: choose excursion or choose onward travel. Trying to do both is the sort of itinerary that creates character, not happiness.

Ticket Options
| Option | Timing | Price Signal | Fit | Confidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| DRS / Dresden Hbf to Tallinn via FRA Lufthansa1 stop |
Sept 3. Route data says weekday departures between 18:00 and 19:00; about 5h35 total; Tallinn arrival after midnight. | Lufthansa page shows Sept 3 from about EUR180. | Best Tallinn choice Works after conference lunch, not after Meißen. |
Medium-high. Confirm exact segments at checkout. |
| DRS / Dresden Hbf to Helsinki via FRA/MUC Lufthansa1 stop |
Sept 3. No nonstop; fastest one-stop route about 5h via FRA. | Lufthansa last-minute list shows Sept 3 from about EUR338. | Best if Helsinki is the real target Cleaner than flying to Tallinn then ferrying. |
Medium. Exact late-day availability needs checkout. |
| Train to BER + nonstop BER to Tallinn AirBalticRyanair |
Dresden to BER train about 1h20-1h26. BER-TLL nonstop about 1h45-1h50. | Google/Trip.com surfaced typical direct fares around US$90-240; Sep 3 AirBaltic around US$103. | Potentially cheaper Only useful if the direct flight time lines up after lunch. |
Medium. Need final timing check. |
| Train to BER + nonstop BER to Helsinki FinnairEurowings |
Dresden to BER train about 1h20-1h26. BER-HEL direct about 1h55-2h; reports show last departure around 20:20. | Expedia surfaced BER-HEL from about US$72 one-way; prices vary. | Strong Helsinki backup Good if leaving Dresden after lunch. |

Medium. Confirm Sept 3 in Tallink/Eckerö checkout. |
Decision Paths
- Priority: Estonia/Tallinn Thursday night. Skip Meißen, book Lufthansa DRS/Hbf to TLL or train to BER + direct BER-TLL if a good direct time exists.
- Priority: Helsinki Thursday night. Skip Meißen, compare DRS/Hbf to HEL vs train to BER + direct BER-HEL. The Berlin route may be cheaper and simpler.
- Priority: do Meißen excursion. Stay in Dresden Thursday night or take a very late ground transfer only if something rare appears; plan Tallinn/Helsinki for Friday.
- Priority: Saxon Switzerland on Friday. Treat Friday as a Dresden day; travel Friday evening or Saturday.
Do Not Book Blind
Flight/ferry prices were live-checked against source pages and travel aggregators, but the exact seat/fare must be confirmed in the airline or ferry checkout before purchase.
Especially watch whether Lufthansa is pricing from Dresden Central Station via Express Rail or from Dresden Airport. Both can be valid, but the logistics are different.
