Most social — the honest answer
1. Generator Berlin Mitte — the only place on the list with an actual nightclub on site, plus a bar, restaurant and games room. It's the party hostel. But its ratings are mediocre (79 overall, cleanliness 70, fun 75 — people go for the scene, not the beds), and the only private left is a $502 apartment. Not worth it for two nights solo.
2. St Christopher's Mitte — rooftop bar + Belushi's sports bar + restaurant + free city tour. This is the classic "bar downstairs" hostel. Privates are sold out for your dates. Dorms only.
3. Circus Hostel — the pick. Highest fun score of anything bookable (89), and it's a real one: its own bar, common room, terrace, board games, in-house travel desk, sitting on Rosenthaler Platz which is itself the bar district. Sociable without being a hangover factory, and unlike Generator it's actually well-run.
4. a&o Hauptbahnhof / a&o Mitte — bar and pool table, but chain-hotel atmosphere. Fun 76–78.
5. Singer109 — bar and pool table, but small and quieter. Fun 79.
Not social: MEININGER Humboldthaus (fun 73) and Hotel AVAlex (fun 64) are effectively budget hotels. EastSeven is the highest-rated hostel in Berlin (97) and Hostelworld literally tags it "Older Travellers" — quiet, no bar — and it's sold out of privates anyway.
